The mid-term review meeting of the first EthiopiaβSomalia Joint Ministerial Commission officially commenced this morning at the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa.
In his opening remarks, Director General for African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Zerihun Abebe, stated that the meeting provides a platform to deliberate on issues aimed at further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries. He noted that discussions would explore new areas of cooperation across sectors, including trade, education, health, labor and skills, and civil aviation.
Director General for East African Community Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, Mohamed Issac Ibrahim, emphasized that the dialogue would also focus on enhancing people-to-people ties, addressing not only security and development concerns but also the shared aspirations for deeper cooperation.
The discussions are expected to address bilateral, regional, and multilateral issues of common concern to both countries, while also exploring ways to expand areas of cooperation to ensure mutual benefit.
