The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Djibouti, in an interview with BBC NEWS, stated that his country will grant Ethiopia a port that will be 100% under Ethiopian management, located less than 100 km from the shared border of the two countries. Mohamed Yusuf explained that they are doing this to resolve the conflict between Somalia and Ethiopia. He also mentioned that President Guelleh is working on a final solution to be reached between Somalia and Ethiopia, and that he will meet with Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Abiy Ahmed in China to defuse the tensions.

Djibouti’s offer to provide Ethiopia with a port comes at a time when diplomatic tensions between Somalia and Ethiopia have escalated, affecting the stability of the Horn of Africa.
