“The notion to join Somalia is unacceptable,” a Somaliland minister has said.
Shukri Haji Ismail Bandare, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, said it would be wrong for Somaliland to join Somalia.
Bandare was speaking on reports that representatives of some Somaliland clans support the idea of joining Somalia.
Somaliland broke away from Somalia in the early 1990s.
She was speaking at an event held in Hargeisa to celebrate International Women’s Day.
The minister added that the Las Anod clashes are the work of foreign governments and the enemies of Somaliland.
