Meeting Between the Somaliland Intellectual Forum (SLIF) and the Somaliland Journalists Association (SOLJA)

On August 17, 2025, the Somaliland Intellectual Forum (SLIF) held a constructive meeting with the Somaliland Journalists Association (SOLJA) alongside respected senior media elders. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in advancing the national interest of the Republic of Somaliland.

After extensive dialogue, both parties reached a common understanding and agreed on the following points:

1. To establish and strengthen comprehensive collaboration between the Somaliland media community, represented by SOLJA, and the Somaliland Intellectual Forum (SLIF).

2. To jointly organize academic debates and public forums aimed at enriching national discourse and contributing to Somaliland’s development.

3. To cooperate in producing research initiatives that promote civic awareness, patriotism, and the sovereignty of the Republic of Somaliland.

4. To work together in fostering social cohesion and countering tribalism and divisive tendencies that undermine national unity.

5. To support and contribute to safeguarding the security, peace, and defense of the Republic of Somaliland.

6. To collaborate in advancing international advocacy efforts currently underway in global institutions concerning Somaliland’s recognition.

7. To jointly counter misinformation, disinformation, and propaganda campaigns that threaten the security, stability, and credibility of the Republic of Somaliland.

8. To express appreciation and full support for U.S. Senator Ted Cruz for his recent call urging President Donald Trump to extend formal recognition to the Republic of Somaliland.

9. To respectfully call upon President Donald Trump to respond positively to his Senator’s request and also endorse the Republic of Somaliland Independence Act – H.R.10402, a bill currently before the U.S. Congress.

10. To appeal to the people of Somaliland to remain united, reject tribalism and divisions, and uphold the spirit of national solidarity and patriotism.

11. To firmly condemn the continued interference of the Mogadishu administration in the internal affairs and territorial integrity of the Republic of Somaliland.
