BREAKING: Somaliland and Taiwan have entered a new historic phase following confirmation that oil drilling activities in Somaliland are set to begin in early 2026.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Somaliland to Taiwan, Mahmoud Galaal, emphasized that the relationship between the two democratically aligned nations is growing rapidly and has reached an advanced level of economic cooperation.

Ambassador Galaal confirmed that Taiwan’s state-owned energy company, CPC Taiwan, is actively engaged in Somaliland’s hydrocarbons sector, with plans to officially commence oil drilling operations at the beginning of 2026.

This strategic development is expected to bring significant benefits to Somaliland, including increased national revenue, job creation, attraction of international investment, and the strengthening of the country’s economic independence.
