The President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, has announced a sweeping cabinet reshuffle involving new appointments, dismissals, and transfers across key ministries, in what is seen as a significant restructuring of his administration.

As part of the changes, MP Barkhad Jama Hersi Batoon, one of the most prominent lawmakers from the 2021 elections, was appointed Minister of Information, Culture, and Awareness following the resignation of Ahmed Yassin Sheikh Ali Ayanle. Other key appointments include Adan Geeddi Qayaad as Minister of Agriculture, Mohamed Abdimalik as Minister of Water, and Dr. Abdisalaan Hussein Cawale as Minister of Communications.

The reshuffle also affected several deputy minister positions, with officials reassigned across ministries such as agriculture, water, health, labour, and energy. The changes reflect a broader effort to reorganize service delivery and production-related sectors within the government.
In addition, Khadar Xaaji Yuusuf Cabdillaahi was appointed Chairman of the Civil Service Agency, while Dr. Maxamed Cismaan Fadal was named Senior Advisor to the President on Foreign Affairs, signalling attention to both administrative reform and external engagement.

The cabinet reshuffle suggests an effort by President Cirro to consolidate authority and improve government performance early in his tenure. By appointing prominent political figures and reshuffling key sectors, the administration appears to be aligning its leadership with strategic priorities such as service delivery and economic development. However, the effectiveness of these changes will depend on implementation and whether the new team can deliver tangible results amid ongoing political and economic challenges
