| Greetings and best wishes,
The escalating armed clashes in Taiz have disrupted life-saving health and protection services for more than 147,600 women and girls. With most medical facilities out of service—only 5 of the 27 maternity hospitals are partially operational—more than 13,100 pregnant women, including 1,500 due to give birth in the next two weeks, are without essential care. The crisis has also led to the suspension of approximately 75 percent of protection services for women and girls in the governorate. In light of this critical situation, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is launching an urgent appeal for US$22.7 million to ensure the continued provision of emergency supplies and services over the next three months. Please see the attached press release for details regarding coverage and publication. Please accept my highest regards and appreciation.
