A high-level delegation from the World Bank, joined by Somaliland’s Ministers of Finance and Economic Development, the Presidency, Transport and Roads Development, Hargeisa Mayor, and the Director General of the Ministry of Finance, convened an important meeting at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development headquarters in Hargeisa.
The discussions centered on accelerating key road infrastructure projects funded by the World Bank. These include the SHIIP project, aimed at upgrading the strategic Hargeisa–Ina Guuxa Corridor, and the SURP-II project, which focuses on strengthening urban roads and infrastructure across the capital while supporting the Hargeisa Local Government.
Key topics included reviewing project readiness, setting actionable steps to speed up implementation, conducting a citywide flood risk management assessment, holding technical talks on the Hargeisa–Ina Guuxa road corridor, and planning joint field visits for both initiatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all parties reaffirmed their commitment to expediting these vital projects and further strengthening collaboration between the Somaliland government and the World Bank.
